PFC Cup Futsal Davao

8 more teams vie for final slots

DAVAO CITY—The hunt for four more slots to the finals continue today as eight more squads see action in the second round of eliminations of the PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao Leg at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.

Showing their wares today are S and G Ventures, Team Smileys, Montevista, and UM Tagum for Bracket C, Black Knights, Inter Davao United, Solido FC and Malita FC.

In the women’s division, DDS, Solido FC A, Solido FC B, and Black Knights will engage each other in a round robin affair to determine the seeding in the finals.

“It’s going to be another round of intense action. Football fans should not miss the action this weekend. It’s going to be tough as all teams will surely give their all to make it to the finals,” said organizer Neil Bravo.

Today’s top four finishers will join early qualifiers Metro TMS, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies and Alia Orange FC which bagged the four slots at stake in the first eliminations last Saturday.

Only the top two teams after the single round robin eliminations advance to the finals on August 7 of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association.

The biggest indoor football tournament in a mall by far here featured the innovation protective shock nets installed around the playing area to protect the mall vicinities and the crowd without limiting the intense action.

Today’s action will also feature the second encounter between the kiddies futsal squads of Bluejaz FC and Black Knights FC in the aperitif at 11:00 am.

Green Windows supports PFC Cup Futsal


Green Windows Dormitel, a subsidiary of the FTC group of companies, has joined the corporate backers of the keenly-awaited PFC Cup Winners Cup Futsal Davao leg tournament which reels off on July 16 at the NCCC Mall Activity Area.

Green Windows thus becomes the official residence of the tournament organized by the Philippine Futsal Committee in cooperation with Bravetower Promotions, City Government of Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Sun Cellular, NCCC Mall and Futsal de Davao. The tournament is sanctioned by the Davao Football Association.

Also throwing support to the event are official outfitter Accel, Star Sports Korea, Frenzy Condoms, EDCO and Sons Tent Rentals, S and G Ventures, Columbia Computer Center, Acer, Enervon HP, Enervon Tablets, Alaxan, The Village Sport, and Nivea.

The first ever futsal tournament to be played in a mall here has already attracted 21 teams with at least five more knocking on the door as waitlisted teams. Playing in the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club 34, Inter Davao United, Central United, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange FC, Igacos FC, S and G Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys, Solido FC, Montevista FC, University of Mindanao-Tagum, Malita FC and Nabunturan FC.

In the women’s division, DDS, Philippine Women’s College, ADDU-Solido FC, Black Knights and Cagayan de Oro FC.

Five teams are in the waitlist and will be taking the spot of any team that backs out. These are PNP Davao del Norte, Maco FC, Belisario FC, Oi Rogers and Lupon FC.

“We are limited to only 8 teams per eliminations per division. So far, the two eliminations for men are already filled up. The women’s division has three slots open,” said local organizer Neil Bravo.

The event, which serves as the official qualifying tournament for the PFC Cup Winners Cup National Finals this November in Manila, will be staging two eliminations on July 16 and 23 with the top four teams advancing to the Finals on August 7.

DFAid: Davao footballers play for flood victims


DAVAO CITY—Around 200 football players from this city will converge this Sunday for what they call as DFAid—a one-day football festival aimed at raising funds for Davao’s flood victims.

DFAid is a project of the Davao Football Association in cooperation with the Davao Football Community, ABS-CBN Davao and Bravetower Promotions. Davao Football Association president Edward “Chaya” Lam called on all clubs and stakeholders to support the fund-raising project in an impromptu meeting last Sunday at the Tionko Field.

The call for DFAid raised positive response from Davao’s football community. The DFAid tournament will be staged at the Crocs Football Field at the Crocodile Park inside the sprawling Riverfront property along Maa Diversion Road.

Games start at 2:00 in the afternoon and will end with the formal turnover of donation to representatives of the ABS-CBN Davao for distribution to the victims of the July 29 flashfloods in Matina.

The DFAid will be accepting cash and in-kind donations during the fun games from all football aficionados as well as the rest of Davao’s sporting community.

“We hope to give the message to everyone that the sports community of Davao is not only concerned about playing games. We are also here to lend a hand and share our blessings,” said DFAid volunteer organizer Neil Bravo.

With Nabunturan’s entry, the cast is already complete for the much anticipated men’s division while three more slots are available in the women’s division of this event organized by the Philippine Futsal Clubs, Bravetower Promotions, and Futsal de Davao, and sanctioned as an official tournament by the Davao Football Association.

Others playing in the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club 34, Inter Davao United, Central United, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange FC, Igacos FC, S and G Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys, Solido FC, Montevista FC, University of Mindanao-Tagum, Malita FC and Nabunturan FC.

Football goes to NCCC Mall with PFC Cup

DAVAO CITY--And now, football at the mall.

Yes, folks, the country’s new-found love for football moves up to a new level with the staging of the PFC Cup Futsal Winners Cup Davao leg at the NCCC Mall Activity Area here.

The event, which serves as the official qualifying tournament for the PFC Cup Winners Cup National Finals this November in Manila, will be staging two eliminations on July 16 and 23 with the top four teams advancing to the Finals on August 7.

Local organizer Neil Bravo bared the staging of this keenly-awaited event on Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) weekly sports forum at the Tower Inn.

“It’s amazing that in two days after we sent out invitations to the clubs in Davao, 14 teams responded in the men’s draw and 4 confirmed in the women’s draw,” Bravo said.

There will only be 8 slots available during each eliminations and only two slots remained in the men’s division as of Wednesday. The women’s division has 4 more slots remaining.

Those who have signed up for the men’s division are Metro TMS, Club 34, Central United FC, Hooligans, Philippine Rabbies, Alia Orange, Team Asbal, UM FC, S and G Ventures, Black Knights, Team Smileys, Solido FC, Montevista FC, Tagum City, Columbia FC and Bluejaz FC. In the women’s division, Ateneo de Davao, Solido FC, DDS, Cagayan de Oro, Black Knights and Philippine Women’s College have confirmed.
